NVIDIA introduces Jetson TX2 module for drones and robots

NVIDIA has introduced Jetson TX1’s heir at an event today, and it was intended to run two times as fast while drawing less than 7.5 watts of power. The product aptly labeled as Jetson TX2 is an Artificial intelligence module for drones, robots, intelligent video cameras and other embedded systems. It can be used for navigation, image and speech recognition, among other purposes. Because it’s more powerful than its predecessor and was created specifically for “edge computing” — data processing at or nearby the source instead of in the cloud or a data center — it could be innovator to speedier, more intelligent plus more accurate devices.

Deepu Talla, vp and gm of the Tegra business at NVIDIA, said:

The chipmaker has also stated that around 12 partner companies have already been utilizing the TX2 diversely. Cisco is using the module for an all-in-one collaboration device which enables screen sharing, interactive whiteboarding and interactive video. A firm referred to as Fellow Robots depends upon TX2 to track on-shelf stock and to identify goods and availability in store.
